A Fully Accredited Family Practice,
Caring for Northcote Since 1976
Almost fifty years on, it's still a local, independent family practice, not part of a corporate chain, with the same values it started with: know the patients, take the time to get things right, and keep up with best practice as medicine changes.
Public holidays by prior appointment only.
The Story
Dr Virendra Berera established Victoria Road Medical Practice in 1976.
Consultations are available in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Greek. Podiatry, physiotherapy, dietetics and occupational therapy all run from this building. There's plenty of street and off-street parking, and home visits can be arranged nearby if needed.
How Standards Stay High
Dr Berera and the team take part in ongoing vocational training to stay current as medicine changes.
The practice also runs a recall and reminder system for preventive care, things like immunisations and regular health checks, so nothing important slips through. Patients who'd rather not be part of this system just need to let reception know.

Three things haven't changed since 1976.
Know the patient
The same GP, visit after visit, no re-explaining your history.
Take the time to get it right
Consultations run long enough to actually talk things through.
Keep learning as medicine changes
Ongoing training for the whole team, not just when it's required.
